New Resurfacing on Invernettie Roundabout A90
Amey is undertaking overnight resurfacing on Invernettie Roundabout at Peterhead, and on a section of the A90

Traffic will be controlled across the roundabout using a convoy system.
- Start Date: 28th August
- End Date: 4th September (Final closures lifted by 6am on Saturday 5th September)
- Time: Overnight works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night.
Phase 1
Sunday 23rd August to Sunday 30th August and Wednesday 2nd September (8pm – 6am each night)
- Closure of the A90 between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout.
- Local access for businesses and residents will be maintained between the two roundabouts.
- Closure of South Base Road.
- Temporary traffic signals on the A90 as traffic approaches from the south and A982 approach.
- Convoy vehicle in operation to escort traffic through the roundabout via a single lane.
- Access to Buchan Way will be maintained via the convoy route.
Phase 2
Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1st September (10pm – 5am each night)
- Closure of Buchan Way.
- Closure of the A90 between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout.
- Local access for businesses and residents maintained where possible between the roundabouts.
- Closure of South Base Road.
- Temporary traffic signals on the A90 as traffic approaches from the south and A982 approach.
- Convoy vehicle in operation to escort traffic through the roundabout via a single lane.
- No vehicular access to Buchan Way during these works.
- Designated parking available at KFC for affected users.
- Hotel residents escorted through the works area when required.
Phase 3
Thursday 3rd September (8pm to 6am)
- Road marking reinstatement across all phases of the scheme.
- Traffic management as in Phase 1.
- Brief closure of Buchan Way (approximately 15–30 minutes) to allow safe reinstatement of junction markings.
Further traffic management arrangements
- The A90 Peterhead Bypass (between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout) and South Base Road approaches and exits will also be closed overnight, with signed diversion routes in place.
- A separate local diversion will be available for traffic using South Base Road.
- Access to Buchan Way will be closed for two nights (Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1st September) during the programme to allow resurfacing through the junction.
- All work is scheduled to be completed by 6am on Friday 4th September.
