New Resurfacing on Invernettie Roundabout A90

Start Date: 28th August
End Date: 4th September (Final closures lifted by 6am on Saturday 5th September)
Time: Overnight works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night.

Sunday 23rd August to Sunday 30^th August and Wednesday 2nd September (8pm – 6am each night)

Closure of the A90 between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout.
Local access for businesses and residents will be maintained between the two roundabouts.
Closure of South Base Road.
Temporary traffic signals on the A90 as traffic approaches from the south and A982 approach.
Convoy vehicle in operation to escort traffic through the roundabout via a single lane.
Access to Buchan Way will be maintained via the convoy route.

Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1^st September (10pm – 5am each night)

Closure of Buchan Way.
Closure of the A90 between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout.
Local access for businesses and residents maintained where possible between the roundabouts.
Closure of South Base Road.
Temporary traffic signals on the A90 as traffic approaches from the south and A982 approach.
Convoy vehicle in operation to escort traffic through the roundabout via a single lane.
No vehicular access to Buchan Way during these works.
Designated parking available at KFC for affected users.
Hotel residents escorted through the works area when required.

Thursday 3rd September (8pm to 6am)

Road marking reinstatement across all phases of the scheme.
Traffic management as in Phase 1.
Brief closure of Buchan Way (approximately 15–30 minutes) to allow safe reinstatement of junction markings.

The A90 Peterhead Bypass (between Invernettie Roundabout and South Howe o’ Buchan Roundabout) and South Base Road approaches and exits will also be closed overnight, with signed diversion routes in place.
A separate local diversion will be available for traffic using South Base Road.
Access to Buchan Way will be closed for two nights (Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1st September) during the programme to allow resurfacing through the junction.
All work is scheduled to be completed by 6am on Friday 4th September.

Description:	Surfacing Improvements
Diversion:	Northbound traffic will leave the A90 at Invernettie Roundabout, following the A982 South Road and taking the first exit at the roundabout onto the A950 to rejoin the A90 at Howe o’Buchan Roundabout. Southbound traffic will follow the route in reverse. The Cairntrodlie and Nether Kinmundy junctions will be closed during the works. Access for Cairntrodlie will be via local roads in Peterhead. Access for Nether Kinmundy will be via the A950 Blackhills.

Description:	Upgrading and replacement of existing High Voltage cables

TTLs to be manually controlled to optimize traffic flow from roundabout.

In preparation for the construction of the new converter station, enabling works will include:

Two new permanent access roads with new junctions on the U66, along with a temporary road through the site for construction traffic.
A site car park and erection of temporary site offices for use during construction.
Construction of a new cable sealing end compound, and removal of two existing 132kV towers including an existing cable sealing end compound on the existing overhead line that crosses the site.
Ground investigation works.
Undergrounding of the existing 11kV overhead line within the converter station land boundary. A new 11kV connection will be installed into the site, running parallel with the A90. This will require periodical temporary traffic lights on the A90 from the U66 junction to the Invernettie roundabout, until March 2024.
