Buchan food and drink festival recognised by local MSP in Parliament
The inaugural Taste of Buchan 2024, a food and drinks event taking place in Peterhead next month, has been recognised in the Scottish Parliament this week. On the 29th February at the Palace Hotel on Prince Street in Peterhead, food and drinks businesses from across Buchan will gather between midday and 16:00 to welcome the local community and showcase their produce.
Last week, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Banffshire and Buchan Coast, Karen Adam, met with the team of pupils to discuss the event and their aspirations to create a sustainable food and drinks festival for Buchan.
Karen Adam MSP has since tabled a parliamentary motion recognising the work of the pupils of Peterhead Academy and Visit Aberdeenshire on Taste of Buchan 2024.
Following the meeting, members of the Taste of Buchan 2024 team said it was ‘a pleasure and privilege’ to meet Karen Adam and said, “It’s encouraging to hear how our event aligns with the work Karen is doing as an MSP for our area and how supportive she is of our event! It’s clear to see that our event is growing and hopefully that means it will be able to be continued for years to come as it really is a great opportunity for the students to get involved with the local area!”
Speaking to our publication, Karen Adam said:
“It was so great to meet the brilliant team of Peterhead Academy pupils behind Taste of Buchan 2024. Their hard work with Visit Aberdeenshire to showcase the wide variety of food and drink that Buchan has to offer is fantastic.
“I commend their efforts to celebrate the local businesses that produce food and drink in Buchan at a time when we should all be supporting our local communities by shopping local.”
Taste of Buchan 2024 will take place from 12:00 until 16:00 on 29th February 2024 at The Palace Hotel, Prince Street, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, AB42 1PL.
