RAF Peterhead Heritage Society is pleased to announce Spitfires of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Lest We Forget.

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire Flypast – RAF Station Peterhead (Buchan Aero Club).

RAF Peterhead Heritage Society and is pleased to announce.

The BBMF will be undertaking a fly past of the former RAF Airfield just out side of Peterhead at 19:13 hours. The flypast will consist of a Spitfire and a Hurricane and will do up to 3 fly pasts over the airfield.

The flypast is in memory of all those that served at the former RAF Station and the 41 personnel that never had the opportunity to return home. The RAF Peterhead Heritage Society Museum will also be open for the day until after the completion of the flypast.

Parking available for those arriving by car, those arriving by plane should plan to arrive by 17:00. (Nota in force for the period of Peterhead Scottish Week Display)

Update:

RAF Peterhead Heritage Society Museum and Buchan Aero Club open for visitors. Escorted visits around parts of the airfield, with limited hanger access. The museum will be open for the day as part of the day of reflection for those that served at RAF Station Peterhead.

8 May 2022 marks 77th Anniversary of the end of World War 2, this event is being organised to remember the airfield, the personnel that worked there during those dark years and to the 41 that never had the opportunity to return home.

RAF Peterhead Heritage Society would like to take the time to point out that this flypast is only possible due to the hard work of Karen and the Peterhead Scottish Week Organising Committee.

The opportunity the Battle of Britain Memorial Display during Peterhead Scottish Week also allows the RAF Peterhead Heritage Society the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the airman / airwomen and officers that all us to enjoy the freedoms we have today that served at RAF Station Peterhead.
