Aberdeenshire Loves Local Gift Card goes digital

It has just got even easier to buy and spend your Aberdeenshire Loves Local Gift Card

The new, convenient digital format officially launces today (Mon, Aug 25) making it easier than ever to give the gift of local shopping, dining, and experiences.

The digital card – which has almost 400 north-east firms signed-up to it – can be purchased online and sent directly to the recipient via their phone or email address.

Designed for convenience, recipients can easily add the card to their Apple Pay or Google Wallet, enabling them to make payments in-store or online with just a tap.

This innovation ensures gifting is smoother, simpler, and faster – ideal for those last-minute presents.

The council is also launching a fresh new design across both the physical and e-card which aims to better reflect the Aberdeenshire area making the card even more appealing, but rest assured both card designs will still work.

There is no limit to the number of transactions or shops the card can be used in, provided there are funds on the card.

Councillor Alan Turner, chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, said: “The Aberdeenshire Loves Local Gift Card supports almost 400 businesses in our villages and towns across the region. Since its launch in 2021, our gift card really has gone from strength to strength – it’s the ideal means of treating someone to the fantastic products, services and experiences on offer in our area, and at the same time protecting vital local jobs and ensuring our communities prosper.

“Whether you’re supporting independent shops, restaurants, attractions or services, by choosing the Aberdeenshire Loves Local Gift Card you’re not only giving someone you care for a thoughtful present but helping to keep the spend local in Aberdeenshire and boosting our local economy.”
