Peterhead RNLI lifeboat launched by HM Coastguard to carry out a sea search after an emergency personal locator beacon (PLB) was triggered on Monday 18 February. The volunteer crew at Peterhead RNLI launched the charity’s lifeboat at 5.25pm making best speed to the reported location of the device – which alerts emergency services to a person in danger at sea – that had been set off.

The Peterhead RNLI lifeboat The Misses Robertson of Kintail and HM Coastguard completed a thorough search of the area before being stood down by HM Coastguard at 8:02pm.

Mike Dyke, Peterhead RNLI Duty Coxswain says: ‘I would like to thank our volunteer crew for their efforts in the search on Monday night. Our volunteers were out for just under 3 hours before returning back to the lifeboat station to refuel and make ready for the next service’

‘If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
