Interactive map showcases untapped development opportunities across Aberdeenshire
A new interactive map has been launched showcasing undeveloped sites across Aberdeenshire.
The sites are allocated in the 2023 Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan for employment uses.
Aberdeenshire Council has developed its Employment Land Prospectus which identifies opportunities for these employment land sites in a bid to attract developers.
The prospectus is a digital interactive mapping tool with site commentary and informative data for individual sites ranging from 2ha to 20ha and those above 20ha.
Users can visualise sites on a map including geo-spatial information with further details organised across the six administration areas across Aberdeenshire.
Cllr Alan Turner, chair of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, said: “As can be seen from our new digital prospectus, Aberdeenshire has a wealth of sites currently lying undeveloped but which, with investment, could be transformed for employment uses. Our region is home to a wide range of sectors from energy and renewables to life sciences, technology and digital, and our aim is to continue working with partners to fulfill demand and further increase our business environment through development opportunities.”
Vice-chair Cllr Isobel Davidson added: “We would welcome discussions on bringing forward any of these sites for development and any considered proposal is likely to receive positive support and advice during the planning and statutory processes to ensure that the application can secure a favourable outcome.”
Paul Macari of Invest Aberdeen said: “The new Employment Land Prospectus is an excellent tool for promoting the wealth of development opportunities in the region. The interactive map and accompanying data streamlines the process of identifying land and eliminates any guesswork for potential investors. There is huge potential for businesses to expand into Aberdeenshire, as evidenced by the digital prospectus, and Invest Aberdeen will continue working with Aberdeenshire Council to support these sites.”
