Peterhead RNLI social media team introduced the series to showcase the volunteers who are making saving lives at sea possible. The campaign highlights the stories, roles, and motivations of volunteer crew members and all of the stations volunteers, bringing supporters closer to the station’s work.

So far the series has introduced 30 of Peterhead RNLI’s volunteers, through regular posts on Facebook and Instagram, followers can learn more about the people behind the lifeboat. Why they volunteer, what their roles involve, and the teamwork that keeps the charity’s lifeboat running. The initiative has already gained strong engagement from the community helping to raise awareness of the RNLI’s lifesaving mission.

While many recognise the role of the charity’s volunteer lifeboat crew, the RNLI relies on a wide range of volunteers, including shore crew, fundraisers, family support workers and press officers. By highlighting these different roles, the campaign aims to showcase that anyone with a passion for saving lives at sea can get involved.

Gary Culkin, Peterhead RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager says: ‘The ‘Meet the Crew’ series has been a fantastic way to boost Peterhead RNLI’s profile, attracting engagement not only from the local community but also from a much wider audience. It has also highlighted the many opportunities available within the RNLI.’
