The River Ugie Peterhead
The River Ugie or Ugie Water is a river located in the North East Scotland, the two streams meat east of Longside and enter the North Sea at Peterhead.
River Ugie has a length of 16.06 kilometres.
The river has two crossings: Balmoor Bridge (Cheyne Bridge), just north of Peterhead, and the George Birnie Memorial Bridge, a pedestrian bridge at Peterhead Golf Club.
Settlements (from west to east): Old Deer, Stuartfield, Mintlaw, Inverquhomery, Longside, Rora, Newseat, Inverugie, Peterhead.
The river Ugie fishery is regulated by a local angling association, from which both season permits and day permits are available.
The main river, which was in the past one of the most prolific sea trout rivers in Scotland, can be fished from the village of Longside east to the golf course bridge, near to the mouth of the river, for the most part from either bank.
The main runs of sea trout appear in June, with salmon arriving later in the season, usually September and October.
